75 Ridley Road, London

A mixed-use building in a prominent location on Ridley Road Market in Hackney.

Proposals include retail, cafe and residential accommodation which will contribute to the London Borough of Hackney’s plans to regenerate the wider area of Dalston.

Great care has been taken to produce proposals for a high quality and distinctive, modern addition to Ridley Road. The proposals make the most of a tight urban site to create a contextual building. The dark engineering brick at ground floor provides a robust 'plinth' to the building, whereas the upper storeys are constructed from a buff brick that reflects the surrounding yellow London stock brick. In contrast to the rough texture of the brickwork, the top two floors are predominantly glazed, creating a lighter, set-back structure at the higher levels. The material palette distinguishes different uses and assists in breaking down the mass of the building.

“The RRMTA support your current proposals. We see this as an enhancement to Ridley Road.” Ridley Road Market Traders Association
