citizenM rises in Shoreditch
Our innovative citizenM hotel in Shoreditch is rapidly taking shape thanks to its pre-fabricated room modules. All of the 215 rooms are now being delivered to site from Poland where they are constructed and fully fitted out. Once on site, the rooms are craned on top of one another, mimicking the stacking of tube carriages at the neighbouring Village Underground.
It's great to see the full scale of the elevations that were carefully considered to break up the repetition of the room modules. The recesses between modules vary to create a subtle, large scale brick pattern over the facade. In addition the layered fritting to the glass forms a waved gradient across the elevation. The specification of the glass and fritting required several trips to Amsterdam to visit the glass sample bus.
The project is on target to open its doors in Spring 2016 - it should be a fantastic new addition to Shoreditch!
